NCC seizes illegal digital cable network worth N250m in Enugu
The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) on Sunday disclosed that the commission raided some locations in Enugu and seized illegal digital cable network worth N250 million, saying that the action would be a deterrent to others in the illegal business.
The Commission had earlier sealed the premises of a digital television station, Real Summit Television, in Nsukka, Enugu State.
The television station was alleged to be stealing programme contents of other digital satellite transmitting stations, for instance, DSTV and Startimes.
The commission, enforcing the sealing of the station at Ugwuoye, Nsukka, arrested the Manager, Daniel Anedo, then, dismantled the station by removing the gadgets used in getting signals for onward transmission.
The gadgets and equipment disabled were said to include the transmitter, decoders, inverters, and the scramblers.
The Commission also switched off the transmitter and other gadgets so that there was no way the broadcast station will no longer continue to pirate other stations.
