NFF appoints New Assistant coaches for Super Eagles
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede as assistant coaches to the Super Eagles, joining Austin Eguavoen at the helm of the national team.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede as assistant coaches to the Super Eagles.
The duo will work alongside Austin Eguavoen, who was recently tasked with leading the team following the failed contract negotiations with German coach Bruno Labbadia.
Ilechukwu, who guided Enugu Rangers to the Nigeria Premier Football League title last season, and Ogunmodede, who qualified for the CAF Champions League, bring a wealth of experience to the Super Eagles coaching staff.
Eguavoen, the NFF’s Technical Director, was given the autonomy to select his assistants as he prepares the team for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The appointment comes on the heels of the contract dispute with Labbadia, which fell through due to tax-related issues.
It remains uncertain whether the NFF will renew negotiations with Labbadia, seek another foreign coach, or appoint Eguavoen on a permanent basis.
For now, Eguavoen will lead the Super Eagles into the crucial qualifiers, aiming to secure a place in the continental tournament.
