Nigeria appoints Portuguese Jose Peseiro Super Eagles Coach
The Nigeria Football Federation has approved the recommendation of the Technical and Development sub-committee of the Federation to appoint Portuguese Jose Peseiro, the new coach of the Super Eagles. Peseiro will be replacing Gernot Rohr who was fired after series of poor performances.
However, Peseiro may not resume duty officially till the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon is concluded. The NFF executive committee insisted that the interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, will handle the Super Eagles at the African Cup of Nations, Peseiro may be there as spectator.
Peseiro will take over as head coach while Eguavoen will return to his duty as NFF technical director after the AFCON.
Jose Peseiro coached the Venezuela national team till August 2021; he also handled Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, and Al Ahly of Egypt.
