NiMet forecasts widespread rain, thunderstorms from Monday to Wednesday
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted widespread rainy and thundery weather conditions across various regions in Nigeria from Monday through Wednesday.
According to NiMet’s outlook released on Sunday, isolated thunderstorms are expected in the northern states, including Katsina, Sokoto, Kano, and others, during Monday morning hours.
As the day progresses, these thunderstorms are likely to extend to other northern regions, while intermittent rains are predicted for central states such as Benue, Niger, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The southern regions, including states like Ebonyi, Abia, and Delta, can also expect localized rains throughout the day.
Similar weather patterns are anticipated on Tuesday and Wednesday, with isolated thunderstorms and intermittent rains predicted across various parts of the country.
NiMet also warned of potential urban flooding in major cities due to heavy downpours and advised residents to avoid flood-prone areas.
The agency urged the public, especially airline operators, to stay updated with weather reports for effective planning and to adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities
