Nollywood actress urges politicians to fulfill campaign promises
Nollywood fast rasing actress, Yetunde Bakare, has urged politicians to keep to their campaign promises for the sake of accountability.
Bakare made the statement, while reacting to the victory of the seating Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, in the Oyo governorship election held on Saturday for his 2nd term.
The renowned actress, who took to her Instagram page to give the advice to politicians, appealed to them not to wait till the end of their tenure before providing the dividends of democracy to their citizens.
According to her, Makinde is a good leader, who is loved by his people, as such his supporters took to the streets of Oyo to celebrate his victory, even before INEC started counting all the results.
“Dear Politicians you all need to learn from Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, his people love him because he is a good man.
” They started jubilating, chanting his name even before INEC starts counting all the results.
“Now that you know the citizens know better and they deserve the very best you all need to sit tight and do better.
” Don’t always wait till your tenure is almost over, before you start doing the needful in order to use it to contest for 2nd term.
“We are not dumb and we don’t have Amnesia so we will always remember everything you do and hold you accountable.
” Don’t get too comfortable because of today’s win, work for the people as promised, and see how you will be accepted with love and no struggles,” she wrote.
Bakare is one of the fast rising actresses in Nollywood, especially in Yoruba movies.
The actress started her career as a model and played minor roles in stage plays before she decided to go into acting properly in 2009.
Her first appearance on TV was when she featured in the movie ‘Awon Okunrin’, which was produced by Funke Akindele and released in 2011.
The Yoruba movie star has contributed to the growth and development of entertainment industry with her numerous movies, making her outstanding.
