Obidient movement rallies grassroots support ahead of 2027 elections
The Obidient Movement has reignited political momentum around former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, with a renewed grassroots mobilisation campaign and symbolic message of his anticipated return to the national stage.
In a bold declaration that has stirred political interest, the movement announced that “Peter Obi is coming” during the inauguration of its Ward Coordinators in the Municipal Local Government Area of Kano State — one of the most politically strategic LGAs in Northern Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the event marked a major step in deepening the group’s outreach efforts across Nigeria’s grassroots communities.
The highlight of the event was the official unveiling of the Peter Obi Prosperity Cap — a symbolic item the group described as representing “the journey from consumption to production.” The cap also stands, according to the movement, as a collective resistance against hunger, poor governance, and the mismanagement of public resources.

“As the Obidient Movement continues to cascade down to the grassroots, the Kano State chapter has successfully inaugurated Ward Coordinators in the Municipal Local Government Area,” the statement read. “The Prosperity Cap is a symbol for all Nigerians – a call to action for good governance, accountability, and a better future under Peter Obi’s leadership.”
In a show of regional solidarity, representatives from Jigawa and Katsina states attended the event and pledged to replicate the initiative in their respective communities. The movement says this collaboration reflects a growing wave of political consciousness across the North, especially among young voters and reform-minded citizens.
The statement ended with a rallying slogan: “Peter Obi is coming. A New Nigeria is POssible.”
While Peter Obi himself is yet to formally declare a new bid for office, the Obidient Movement’s activities suggest a strong intent to keep his political message alive and prepare the ground for a possible second presidential run.
