Another faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may soon defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) towards the upcoming presidential election in the year twenty twenty-three. There have been internal crises among top factions of the party in numerous states across the country already. As the crises continue on daily basis, there is a possibility that another powerful faction of the ruling party may dump the party before the commencement of the most anticipated general election in 2023.

The recent defection of the Lagos4Lagos movement to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a major concern that the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) should worry about because members of the ruling party joined the opposition party en mass. The leader of the aggrieved faction that dumped the party, Mr Jide Adediran popularly known as Jandor, was welcomed alongside the members of his faction to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by Dr Bukola Saraki.

With the ways things are going presently, another powerful faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may defect to the opposition party if care is not taken. It is often said that a house divided against itself can never stand. Since there are factions already established in the party, there will be multiple defections to the opposition party. In this article, we will be looking at another faction of the ruling party that may defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) towards 2023.

Which Faction of APC Can Defect?

In Lagos State, there are several factions of the ruling party. One of them is the Lagos4Lagos movement that just defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) some days ago. The reasons why the members of the faction defected to the opposition party en mass are best known to them. Apart from the Lagos4Lagos movement, another group that may defect is former Governor Akinwumi Ambode’s faction in Lagos State.

The faction of the party is one of the aggrieved factions of the party in the state because of the fact that he was unable to secure his second term tenure with the All Progressives Congress (APC). Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is the major stronghold leader of the party, did not back Ambode up during his second term bid. Rather, he supported Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Ever since then, his faction has been opposing that of Tinubu’s faction in Lagos State.

Surely, he may not be able to defeat the incumbent governor alone. He may need to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for him to do that. Similarly, he can follow the same step the Mr Jide Adediran took some weeks ago. He may defect to the opposition party also in the upcoming presidential election. Akinwumi Ambode’s faction can also defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of 2023.
