Ortom expresses constraint by PDP membership in supporting Obi
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Tuesday reiterated that he would have endorsed and supported the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, for the 2023 election if he was not a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Terver Akase, noted the restraint by his membership of the PDP, which constrained him from personally leading the presidential campaign of Obi across the country.
Orotm noted Obi has the capacity to effectively tackle the economic, security and other challenges facing the country.
He stated that Obi possesses the qualities of a leader who will be a true President of the country by guarantying justice, equity and fairness for all Nigerians.
Governor Ortom noted that the country, for some years, has been tottering on the verge of collapse, owing to leadership failure and its attendant consequences of poverty, heightened insecurity with banditry, kidnappings and other acts of terrorism threatening the very foundations of the nation.
The governor was of the view that the President that Nigeria needs at this challenging time in history is one who understands the urgent need to unite the people and speedily initiate policies and actions to redirect the ship of the nation on the path of growth and development, and emphasises that Peter Obi has all such qualities.
Governor Ortom commended former President Olusegun Obasanjo for once again demonstrating objectivity, truth and patriotism as a statesman whose views on national issues must be taken seriously, in endorsing Peter Obi for the 2023 presidential election.
