Ortom thanks Buhari, Council of State for state pardon to Dariye, Nyame
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Council of States for the state pardon granted to former Governor Joshua Dariye of Plateau State and former Governor Jolly Nyame of Taraba States.
The Benue Governor had previously appealed for review of the cases of the two former governors, and consideration for granting them state pardon. Ortom, therefore, e3xpressed his gratitude to Buhari as the National Council of States at its meeting last Thursday, which was chaired by President Buhari in Abuja, approved the state pardon for Dariye, Nyame and others.
Governor Ortom, thanking President Buhari and the National Council of States, for the prerogative of mercy, observed that some useful lessons must have been learnt from the prison experience. He expressed joy that the two former governors will now reunite with their families.
Dariye and Jolly Nyame were serving their prison terms at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja.
