Osimhen’s future hangs in the balance after rejecting €70m offer
Osimhen Victor, the Nigerian striker who has become a hot commodity in the transfer market, has made headlines by rejecting a hefty €70 million bid from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli.
This decision has sent shockwaves through the football world and left Napoli with a dilemma: balancing a potential financial windfall with the desire to retain a key player critical to their future ambitions.
While the offer from Al-Ahli falls short of Osimhen’s €130 million release clause, it remains a substantial sum. However, Napoli appears reluctant to part with their star forward.
Osimhen’s contract extension in December 2023 indicates the club’s intent to keep him at the heart of their attack.
This stance has created a challenging environment for potential buyers. Clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Chelsea, previously linked with Osimhen, seem cautious about meeting Napoli’s steep valuation.

Rumors suggest Napoli is holding out for a figure closer to €100 million plus add-ons, a price tag that appears increasingly unlikely to be met.
With the transfer deadline on August 30th fast approaching, the situation is becoming more urgent. Osimhen has reportedly shown a preference for joining PSG, a club with the financial resources to make the deal happen and the lure of playing alongside superstars like Kylian Mbappé.
However, PSG has yet to meet Napoli’s asking price, casting doubt on Osimhen’s dream move.
For Arsenal and Chelsea, the transfer saga brings its own complications. Both clubs are in the midst of rebuilding efforts, and Osimhen’s goal-scoring prowess would be a valuable addition.

However, Chelsea’s lack of Champions League football this season is believed to be a significant factor in Osimhen’s decision-making, despite their status as a top Premier League club.
As the clock ticks down, the transfer saga has become a tense waiting game. Napoli needs a convincing offer to consider a sale, while interested clubs must decide whether to commit to such a high fee.
Osimhen’s talent is beyond question, but the big question remains: will any club step up and meet Napoli’s demands before the window closes?
One thing is certain: Osimhen’s next move will have a major impact not just on his own career, but also on the attacking fortunes of Napoli and the ambitions of the clubs vying for his signature.
