Outrage as angry mob brutalizes two suspected thieves in Asaba (Video)
A viral video circulating on social media has captured the moment two men were brutally beaten by an angry mob in Asaba, Delta State, after they were allegedly caught stealing.
The disturbing footage, which began trending on Wednesday, showed the suspects being assaulted by a large crowd in a chaotic scene that has since generated widespread reactions online. In the video, residents could be seen attacking the men while bystanders watched and recorded the incident.
The alleged mob action reportedly followed recent attacks on several gadget stores in parts of Asaba, where suspected armed robbers were said to have carried out coordinated raids, worsening fears over rising criminal activities in the state capital.

Residents claimed that repeated incidents of theft and robbery in the area had heightened tension among business owners and members of the public, leading to growing frustration over insecurity.
The incident has since sparked mixed reactions on social media platforms. While many Nigerians condemned the assault and described it as an act of jungle justice, others argued that the violent response reflected public anger over persistent criminal attacks and the perceived failure of law enforcement agencies to curb insecurity.
Human rights advocates have repeatedly warned against mob justice, stressing that suspects should be handed over to security agencies for proper investigation and prosecution rather than subjected to violent attacks.
As of the time of filing this report, the Delta State Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the incident or confirmed the identities of the suspects involved.a
The development has once again reignited concerns over the growing trend of mob violence in parts of the country, with calls mounting for stronger policing and improved public confidence in the justice system.
