Outrage as police officer kills polytechnic student
Students of Kwara State Polytechnic have taken to social media to demand justice for their colleague, Ishola Abdulqoyum, who lost his life following an encounter with a police officer along Panat Road, connecting Sango and ShopRite in Kwara State.
Abdulqoyum, an ND II part-time student of Electrical/Electronics Engineering, was reportedly on a commercial motorcycle when he was stopped by the police.
According to his brother, Abdullah, the officers requested money from Abdulqoyum after asking him to enter their patrol vehicle.

“He told me yesterday that he was on his way to buy footwear for his sign-out when the police stopped him. They demanded money, but he told them he didn’t have any. While the officers were attending to others, he stepped out of the vehicle.
They had already taken his phone and power bank, despite finding nothing incriminating. When he tried to leave, they chased him and tragically shot him,” the deceased’s brother said in a chat with Sahara Reporters.
