PDP: Bedridden factional chairman sidesteps BoT, govs to suspend NWC
Since the suspension of its national chairman, the PDP has got into bad shape, and it worsens considering a factional chairman that is recuperating is now in charge, from his bed.
Yemi Akinwomi, the deputy national chairman (South), who snagged a faction of the broken party, made decision August 24.
In a statement he signed using his thumbprint because he is too weak to sign, Akinwomi said the immediate suspension followed the restraining order by court order suspending Secondus.
“Deputy National Chairman, South, Elder Akinwomi, acting on section 45 (2) of the PDP constitution took over the responsibility of presiding over the activities of the party and issued the directive,” he said I a statement that had to be authenticated with a video of him thumb-printing the release.
According to the statement, the Constitutional section says in absence of the National Chairman, the Deputy National Chairman South takes over the running of the party.
“I hereby deem it fit and proper to postpone the National Working Committee, NWC, meeting earlier scheduled for today till further notice to allow for broader consultations in the overall interest of our party,” he said.
The party’s BoT and self-appointed elders, and governors have been down in their mouths since Rivers Gov. Nyesom Wike pulled the stunt that got Secondus suspended.
