Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu East Senatorial District have commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for upholding zoning arrangement for rotating the governor in the state.
A delegation of the people from Enugu East, led by the PDP governorship candidate, Peter Mbah, were at the Government House, Enugu, on a special ‘Thank-you’ visit to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. The Enugu East delegation included the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi; PDP State Chairman, Augustine Nnamani; and National Assembly members from the zone. Others include PDP Zonal Chairman, Enugu East Senatorial District, Nnamdi Nwafor; and traditional rulers.
The delegation thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for the choice of Mbah as the PDP governorship candidate in compliance with the rotation and zoning agreement, eulogising Governor Ugwuanyi as a promise keeper.
The PDP Zonal Chairman, Enugu East Senatorial District, Nnamdi Nwafor; recalled that the people of Enugu East Senatorial District, including the clergy and traditional rulers, had on June 17, 2021 converged on Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, for the Oganiru Enugu East Senatorial District Rally. At the rally, he said, they appealed to Governor Ugwuanyi to ensure that the zoning arrangement of the governorship position, which favoured their zone, be adhered to.
Nwafor added that Ugwuanyi promised them that justice, equity and fairness would prevail in the fullness of time.
Nwafor said the governor’s promise was made manifest on May 25 when Mbah was duly elected as the governorship candidate of the PDP.
