PDP warns members against endorsing Tinubu for 2027, cites anti-party violations
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to party members engaging in anti-party activities, particularly those endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for re-election in 2027.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC expressed deep concern over “persistent public media outbursts” and open declarations of support for the APC by some prominent party figures.

The leadership described such actions as clear violations of the PDP Constitution.
“Such activities contravene Section 10 (6) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), which expressly prohibits any form of alignment with another political party in a way that undermines the PDP or its elected officials,” the NWC stated.
The committee warned that these endorsements and alliances were generating internal divisions, fueling disaffection, and contributing to the defection of loyal members — all of which could jeopardize the PDP’s chances in upcoming elections.
Citing Section 59 (1) of the party’s constitution, the NWC confirmed it has issued formal reprimands to those found culpable and cautioned that further violations would attract tougher disciplinary measures.
“The PDP will not tolerate acts that sabotage its unity, strength, or electoral viability,” the statement read. “We urge all members to recommit to the ideals, discipline, and cohesion that define our party.”
The warning comes as the party prepares for its National Convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The NWC called on all members to remain focused, loyal, and united in building a stronger and more competitive opposition platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
