Pensioners protest nonpayment of 4 months pension in Gombe
Pensioners on Wednesday turned out in numbers to protest nonpayment of four months’ pension in Gombe State by the state governor.
The protesting senior citizens stormed major roads in the state capital obstructing movements on access road to the Government House, expressing their bitterness. They demanded the state government to pay the arrears, agitating that they have been facing the harsh economic conditions in the country.
Some officials of the state government were said to have received the protesting pensioners, promising that their complaints would be considered be the government. however, there was no firm assurance that the four months pension arrears would be paid by the government at a given time.
