Police apprehend 78 Motor Park thugs in possession of arms in Oyo
The Oyo State Police Command on Thursday paraded some Motor Park thugs loyal to former Head of the Disciplinary Committee of Park Management System, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly called Auxiliary, at the Oyo State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Adebowale Williams, in media interaction during the parade, disclosed that the suspects were arrested while trying to create widespread carnage and civil disturbance after the immediate dissolution of the Disciplinary Committee of the Park Management System of the state.
The Commissioner of Police said that 78 of the Park thugs were arrested for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition, adding that exhibits recovered from them include 724 cartridges, 33 mobile phones and a sum of money worth N3,450,000 (three million, four hundred and fifty thousand naira).
The CP said that the Park Management System head escaped with some of his boys during exchange of gunfire with the Police during the raid on his residence.
