Police boss ignores Senate invitation; follows Buhari on state visit
IGP Ibrahim Idris is not going to appear before the Senate which ordered him on Wednesday to come and address a plenary over the arrest and detention of Senator Dino Melaye and the killings across Nigeria.
Idris was is currently accompanying President Muhammadu Buhari on a state visit to Bauchi.
The senators were angry the IGP didn’t communicate his non-appearnace to them officially.
They, however, postponed the invitation to next Wednesday.
The police have kept Melaye in detention at the National Hospital where he is receiving treatment for injuries he sustained in a bid to escape custody.
