‘Protect your kids,’ Skepta warns Kanye West
British-Nigerian rapper Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., popularly known as Skepta, has criticised the public exposure of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s 13-year-old daughter, North West, following a viral video from Paris Fashion Week.
Skepta reacted after a clip showed North interacting with an adult man at the Vetements Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris.

In the video, North appeared to extend her hand for a handshake before the man instead moved in for a hug and later posed for a photograph with her.
Reacting on X, Skepta argued that North’s body language suggested she was uncomfortable with the interaction.
“A blind man could see she wanted a handshake,” he wrote.
The rapper said he rarely comments on other people’s affairs but felt compelled to speak out because of the incident.
“My fans know I try to stay out of people’s business, but damn, the way grown men, complete strangers, try to use North makes me sick,” he added.
After another X user questioned whether hugging had become a social offence, Skepta clarified that his concern was not the hug itself but the need to respect a minor’s boundaries.
“She is 13 years old and she put her hand out for a handshake. You don’t ignore that,” he wrote.
He also urged parents to be more intentional about protecting their children, particularly those growing up in the public eye.
“Protect your kids, people. Protect your kids!” he said.
Skepta further criticised what he described as society’s poor understanding of body language, arguing that many adults fail to recognise when a child is uncomfortable.
His remarks sparked mixed reactions online. While many agreed that adults should respect the personal boundaries of minors regardless of their celebrity status, others argued that the incident had been blown out of proportion.
North, the eldest child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has increasingly stepped into the entertainment spotlight. She recently released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, and previously performed at The Lion King concert at the Hollywood Bowl in 2024.
Although both Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have publicly supported their daughter’s entertainment career, Skepta’s comments have reignited discussions about child stars, parental responsibility and the boundaries adults should observe when interacting with minors in public.
