Energy drinks may pair well especially with hangovers but most energy drinks are flavored with caffeine, sugars. Here are 8 reasons why should reduce your intake of energy drink

1) Increased Anxiety

If you are prone to anxiety, you should do well to avoid consuming caffeinated beverages especially if you have noticed that it increases your feeling of anxiety and even larger doses of caffeine can even cause a full-blown panic attack.

2) It can Lead To Type 2 Diabetes

Many energy drinks have very high sugar contents and can wear out the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas which can lead to type 2 diabetes.

It is highly possible for one to get addicted to the caffeine that is present in these drinks. It’s all the work of dopamine. Dopamine is a chemical that helps control emotions, movements, and motivations.

So, taking too much of this will make one feel more awake and alert. Caffeine produces that feeling to the body and acts as stimulate that can send signals to the brain.

4) You Can Overdose On Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3 also known as Niacin is added to almost every energy drink at minimal levels that will cause no harm and even be healing to the body but this Niacin which has been inaccurately viewed as a natural supplement to flush marijuana out of the system can also cause an overdose if consumed frequently with energy drinks. This can cause dizziness, flushing, rapid heart rate, itching, vomiting, diarrhea, and even gout.

5) It Can Raise One’s Blood Pressure

Caffeinated drinks can increase or raise one’s blood pressure. For those who have normal blood pressure, this won’t be alarming but for those suffering from an increase in their high blood pressure, this can be an additional risk to them as they can suffer from stroke and even other health issues that are related to hypertension if they take too much energy drink in a short while.


6) It can cause sleepless nights

Having sleepless nights? Then you might need to check how much you consume energy drinks. It can keep people awake at night but when energy drinks are abused, they can cause someone to miss sleep. This can cause impaired functioning and will slow down the body’s concentration in performing some tasks.

7) You can have cardiac arrest

Research has recorded that those with an underlying heart condition has gone into cardiac arrest after taking a few energy drinks. Before drinking caffeine or energy drinks, be sure you know your heart conditions. Reports have concluded that some energy drinks can cause forceful heart contractions which could be dangerous to some heart problems.

8) Finally, energy drinks don’t mix well with medications

Some of the ingredients present in these drinks can interact with the doctor’s prescription especially on some medications like the one taken for depression and this can lead to adverse reactions like minor itching or even a constriction to the airways
