Remember this little kid who was a meme in 2016, what does he look like today?
A lot of people have become memes over the years and some of them didn’t even know that they were being used as memes. Well, there is one person who we have been using as a meme for over 5 years now and that is the boy Jake Amo who was 4 years old when the meme came out.
A photo of Jake Amo from the village Asempanaye in Ghana was the meme of choice for many a joke in 2016.
Africa Check was able to determine that photographer, Carlos Cortes had taken the famous picture.
Jake Amo was the meme of the year in 2016. The famous picture of the then 4-year-old was taken during artist Solomon Adufah’s visit to teach creative studies and art at the toddler’s school in August 2015. Adufah returned to Ghana and it was said that he managed to catch up with Jake and he said that the little boy “is doing wonderfully” and this was back in 2016.
2016 was where the meme started taking off, and people started creating tons of memes with images of Jake Amo.
Jake became an international internet sensation and the child probably didn’t even know that he was this popular.
I’m sure the question that is on all of our minds right now is where is the boy right now in 2021? Well, since 2016 we haven’t heard anything from him or even seen what he looks like now, but we do know that he is about 9 or 10 years old now.
There image and the memes that came after it is very timeless as it seems that people continue to make more memes from the image in 2021. Am I will go down in history as one of the greatest things to come out of Africa.
