Reps urges Tinubu to declare state of emergency on drug abuse, seeks funding of NDLEA directly from Presidency
The House of Representatives in Thursday made a case for the funding of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) directly from the Presidency.
Members of the House also demanded President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on drug abuse in Nigeria.
A member of the House, Francis Agbo, in a motion of urgent national importance, drew the attention of the federal legislators to the operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to combat trafficking and consumption of hard drugs in the country.
The legislators had expressed concerns over the equipment and weapons provided for NDLEA operatives, requesting an increase in the budgetary allocation of the agency.
The Ninth House of Representatives, thereafter, fixed Tuesday June 6, 2023 for valedictory session before the dissolution of the House.
