Reuben Abati questioned the cost of SUV vehicles Buhari gave the Niger Republic
Reactions has been trailing the purchase of Sports Utility Vehicles for Niger Republic by the federal government of Nigeria when public universities in Nigeria remained closed for about 5 months over the failure of the federal government to meet up with the demands of Academic Staff Union of Universities.
Reacting on the development, popular Nigerian journalist and former presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan, Dr Reuben Abati has stated that the amount spent on the vehicles is outrageous.
Speaking during today’s edition of the morning show on Arise Tv, Abati said he supported the civil society stands on the matter.
He said “Civil society are right to question the cost of the Vehicles. You are buying ten SUVs for N1.145Bn. What kind of SUVs could that be. Even if each one is 50 million naira. The 1.145 billion naira for ten Toyota SUV is outrageous. You can question the cost at the levels of accountability and transparency. ” Reuben Abati said.
