Rio Ferdinand hails Man Utd’s latest recruit
Rio Ferdinand has shared his opinion on Manchester United’s signing of Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
Man United had on Thursday signed Onana from Inter Milan on a five-year deal.
Reacting to the development, Man United legend Ferdinand said Onana’s signing was a great addition to the Red Devils’ squad.
The former England international said (via Manchester Evening News): “Ten Hag wants to control every phase and every aspect of the game. That is how he played before coming to Man United. He tried it with De Gea, Maguire, etc and played through the press and pressure. Brentford was a great example, they got caught with the ball and punished.”
He added: “You have to respect that. I think [Andre] Onana is a great signing; he is a new-age goalkeeper, he epitomises that. He is great with his feet, and don’t underestimate his ability to be a shot-stopper as well.”
