RIWAMA boss, Obuah, Commissions Women Waste Management Intervention Programme in ONELGA
From NWADIKE UGOCHUKWU, Port-Harcourt
IN continuation of his avowed efforts to rid the State of waste and dirt, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro Felix Obuah has extended the activities of the agency to Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area.
Accordingly, Bro Obuah has commissioned a 250 Women Only Waste Management Intervention Programme, tagged Operation Kick Wastes Out of ONELGA.
Speaking while inaugurating the programme, Bro Obuah, who is also the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said the programme was necessitated by the urgent need to save the LGA from the threat of ravaging filth and improve the health of the people.
The Sole Administrator regretted that the local government, for the past eight months, has been overtaken by wastes and dirt and stands the risk of being ravaged by an epidemic occasioned by the worsening sanitary situation in the council.
He accused the APC-led administration in the area of toying with the lives of the people by playing politics with their health and well-being.
Bro Obuah enjoined the women not to be deterred by the ploy and criminal negligence of the APC in the area, and put in their best to restore sanity to ONELGA by clearing all nooks and crannies of the area of dirt, wastes and the like.
The PDP, he said, unlike the APC, will not relax while the local government area is overrun by dirt and will do everything humanly possible without hesitation to save the lives of the people from waste-associated diseases and keep the area and indeed, all the parts of the state clean.
