Ronaldo survives death threats
Brazil football great Ronaldo has moved to allay fears about his health, revealing that he expects to leave hospital on Monday after suffering pneumonia.
The 41-year-old was admitted to the Can Misses hospital in Ibiza on Friday and was originally placed in intensive care.
“Friends, I had a strong bout of the flu in Ibiza and I had to be admitted to hospital … but everything is all in order”, he said.
“Tomorrow I’ll be discharged and I’ll be able to go back home. Thank you all for your love and your messages!”
Ronaldo, who scored 62 goals in 98 matches for Brazil, was on vacation in Ibiza, where he owns a holiday home.
The former striker is considered one of football’s greatest ever players, having won the World Cup in 1994 and 2002 as well as three FIFA World Player of the Year awards and two Ballon d’Or trophies.
His club career comprised spells at Cruzeiro, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Corinthians.
