Routine exercise, dieting, good in maintaining sound health at old age – Ajoku
Sen. Eze Ajoku, President, the Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria (COSROPIN), says routine exercise and right eating are vital in maintaining sound health at old age.
Ajoku told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that old age which is a blessing must be maintained with interactions with the society.
“An older person should always interact with people around him or her to keep the body and soul healthy.
“He or she should always avoid stress or thinking but do more meditations through prayers and other exercises of the soul,” he said.
The Coalition President also identified routine medications in accordance with doctor’s prescription as key to maintaining sound health at old age.
According to him, sound sleep of about seven to eight hours is also necessary in maintaining sound health.
Ajoku, who reiterated the need to jettison stress and thinking, said that interactions and socialisation were paramount in checking stresses.
He, however, advised older people to always watch their foods and diets because of cholesterol and other health hazards that were capable of deteriorating the health condition.
