Rtd. Army Gen., Okoloagu, urges completion of Ninth Mile–Obollo-Afor Road
A retired Army General, Maj.-Gen. JOJ Okoloagu, has called on the Federal Government to fast-track the completion of Ninth Mile – Obollo-Afor – Otukpo Road.
Okoloagu made the call on Tuesday, during the Enugu North Senatorial District meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders.
He regretted that many lives had been lost on the road because of its deplorable condition.
He expressed worry that successive administrations had “carried out one form of rehabilitation or the other on the road without completing it”.
According to him, the ongoing rehabilitation work on the road is going on at a snail pace.
Okoloagu maintained that the failure to completely rehabilitate the road had made it difficult for people to travel to the northern part of the country.
He said that as a member of the Board of Trustees of the party and one of its founding fathers that his opinion ought to be respected.
He applauded president Bola Tinubu for appointing one of their sons, Eugene Odo, as a member of the Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Also speaking, APC candidate for Igbo Eze North/ Udenu Federal Constituency, Dr Oby Aji, said that the essence of the monthly zonal meeting was for them to come together and discuss the issues that would help move the zone and party forward.
Aji said that the zone had the highest APC supporters in the entire state but was being marginalised, in terms of appointive positions.
Stakeholders at the meeting included the former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chief Eugene Odo, Zonal Chairman of the party, Chief Emma Idoko, APC Candidate for Nsukka West Constituency, Peter Ugwu, the state Public Relations Officer of the party, Member Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board, Nkem Oloto.
Others were the six Local Government party chairmen and their executive members. (NAN)
