Thirteen passengers who were abducted last week while traveling in a Benue Links transport bus have been successfully rescued by security operatives in Benue State.
The victims, who were kidnapped at Eke in Okpokwu Local Government Area, regained their freedom following a coordinated rescue operation carried out by a combined team of police officers and local vigilante members.
Confirming the development to journalists on Sunday, the Chairman of Okpokwu LGA, Adah Inalegwu, said the rescue mission was a result of sustained efforts by security agencies and community-based security volunteers.

“I am pleased to announce that the 13 passengers kidnapped in Okpokwu have been rescued safely. This was made possible through the combined efforts of the police and local vigilante operatives,” Inalegwu stated.
He commended the swift response of the security team and reiterated the local government’s commitment to enhancing safety in the area.
The victims, who were reportedly abducted during a routine interstate journey, are now receiving medical attention and support from the authorities.
Inalegwu assured that security will be further intensified across key flashpoints in the region to forestall future incidents.
The rescue comes amid growing concerns over the rising cases of highway kidnappings in parts of the country.
