Senate sends delegation to Ekweremadu, wife in U.K.
The Senate of the Nigerian National Assembly on Wednesday resolved to send a delegation comprising members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs to Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife in the United Kingdom (U.K) on their travails over the allegation of organ harvesting.
The Senate made the Resolution at a closed-door session before commencing Plenary on Wednesday. The delegation will depart Nigeria for the UK on Friday.
The Senate commended the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nigerian High Commission in the UK for providing diplomatic support and consular services to Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice. The Senate demanded the institutions to do more in unraveling the mysteries behind the controversial organ harvesting and trafficking allegations by Nwamini David.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabimila, had on Tuesday urged the Nigerian High Commission in the U.K. to provide Ekweremadu all the required support to defend his case. The Speaker revealed that he is in contact with the Nigerian High Commissioner to the U.K.
