Sergius Ogun emerges ADC candidate for Edo Central Senatorial by-election
Barrister Sergius Ogun, a seasoned legal practitioner and former Member of the House of Representatives, has officially emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the upcoming Edo Central Senatorial District by-election.
The announcement followed a successful party primary held in Edo State, supervised by the ADC’s state leadership.
The State Chairman of the ADC, who also acted as the Returning Officer, declared Ogun the winner of the keenly contested primary and signed the official result sheet to confirm his emergence as the party’s standard bearer.
The event was attended by party delegates, stakeholders, and enthusiastic supporters who hailed Ogun’s candidacy as a strategic move to inject credibility and vibrancy into the ADC’s campaign in Edo Central.

“This is a victory for the people, and I am honored to carry the ADC’s banner in this crucial election,” Ogun stated. “Together, we will work towards bringing progressive representation to the senatorial district and addressing the pressing needs of our communities.”
Ogun’s candidacy is being viewed by analysts as a potential game-changer in the upcoming race. His track record in legislative advocacy and governance is expected to shape a policy-focused campaign as the by-election draws near.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed August 16, 2025, for the Edo Central senatorial by-election. With the date fast approaching, political activities are set to intensify across the five local governments that make up the district.
Party supporters and political observers have continued to send congratulatory messages to Barrister Ogun, applauding the ADC’s decision and expressing optimism about the party’s performance in the coming polls.
