South-south governors meet in Delta
The governors of the six south-south states on Thursday held a consultative meeting in Asaba, Delta State. The meeting, which is being held at the Government House, Asaba, was convened by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Chairman, South-South Governors Forum. This is the first meeting to be held since Okowa became the Chairman of the South-South Governors Forum.
The south-south governors meeting was holding at the same time governors of the six northeast states are meeting in Gombe, Gombe State, on security issues confronting the region.
The meeting of the south-south governors still going on at the time of this report, thus, details are yet to be ascertained. However, Government House sources revealed that the meeting may not be unconnected with the security challenges in the country, as well as deliberating on regional integration of the south-south states.
The meeting knew no boundary of political leanings. All the governors in the six south-south states were in attendance. Accordingly, the meeting is being attended by the host, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State and Governor Ben Ayadi of Cross River State.
