Sowore releases fresh footage of Ekiti attack, insists on assassination attempt [VIDEO]

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has released fresh footage of the attack on him and members of his team in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, insisting that the incident was a coordinated assassination attempt.

Sowore shared the video on his verified X handle on Monday, faulting attempts to portray the incident as a mere altercation between him and some individuals.

The activist and politician said the latest footage provided further evidence of the violence that occurred during his visit to the Ekiti State capital last week.

In his post, Sowore wrote: “This is yet another footage of the brutal attack on me and members of our team in Ado-Ekiti. How anyone could watch this violence and dismiss it as a mere ‘altercation’ is beyond comprehension. We maintain that this was a coordinated assassination attempt.”

The incident has generated widespread reactions on social media, with several Nigerians condemning the attack and calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the violence.

Sowore has maintained that the incident was a deliberate attempt on his life, insisting that the attack went beyond a disagreement or confrontation.

However, the police had earlier described the incident as a clash between Sowore and some individuals, a characterisation that differs from the AAC presidential candidate’s account.

The fresh footage is expected to intensify public debate over the incident and calls for authorities to establish what transpired in Ado-Ekiti and identify those responsible.
