By Kingsley Chukwuka
A former governor of Plateau State and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Amb. Fidelis Tapgun, has said with the emergence of the former Senate President, Iyorcha Ayu as the National Chairman of the PDP, the party is ready for victory come 2023.
Tapgun said Ayu who is one of the founding fathers of the PDP will in no doubt lead the party to the original ideology in which it was found.
Recall that Mr. Ayu who was a consensus candidate at the party national convention in Abuja last weekend got 3,426 affirmative votes out of 3,511 accredited voters.
Elated with his emergence Tapgun said: “God is leading the PDP back to the cause it started with the G34. We believe that with the new exco in place the party is back in full force”.
The former governor who spoke with journalists in Jos, Monday, also said the former party Chairman, Uche Secondus, created a lot of problem in the State chapters of the party and has left them unresolved. I hope that this exco will resolve these issues.
“I pray that God will give them the grace because the country is facing a perilous task and I know Ayu has the capacity to lead the party to rescue the country.
“Nigeria is in dare need of rescue and PDP stands a better chance in rescuing the country.
“We are working towards 2023 and with the new changes in the PDP, it is obvious that the much desired change has come.
“People are talking of break up, this country cannot break up. Nigerians are very strong and resilient, they go through difficulties and come out of it.
“We will all remain in Nigeria and rescue it together”, Tapgun said.
He however lauded the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the just concluded convention, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and all those that made the convention a success.
