Tinubu endorses one party state
President Bola Tinubu, at the APC National Summit on the Way Forward, held in Abuja, covertly endorsed one party state in Nigeria.
President Tinubu may not have endorsed the one party state politic in Nigeria in its legal or autocratic context, but in response to the fear of opposition parties over the wave of defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from other parties.
The president expressed satisfaction with the defections that are consolidating his political forte for the 2027 elections, saying that he expects more to come.
According to President Tinubu, “I just need to tell those who say a one-party system is no good: you don’t blame a people bailing out of a sinking ship when they have no life jackets. I’m glad for what we have, and I’m expecting more to come. That is the game. Welcome to progress; sweep them clean.”
