Two UN officials kidnapped in Congo
An American and Swedish nationals have been kidnapped in Kasai Central province in the Republic of Congo.
The Congolese government said on Monday that the assailants kidnapped the two United Nations officials noting that the administrative and security services are working in consonance with UN Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo to free the the kidnapped victims.
The Congolese Information Minister Lambert Mende, who gave the names of the victims as Michael Sharp, a U.S. citizen, and Zaida Catalan, of Swedish nationality, were kidnapped by yet to be identified criminal gang.
The Minister didn’t give the exact date the kidnap took place.
