Very Dark Man reacts to bench warrant in Mercy Chinwo defamation case
Popular social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Very Dark Man, has responded defiantly to the bench warrant issued against him by an Abuja Chief Magistrate Court over allegations of criminal defamation against gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Emmanuel Iyana, issued the arrest warrant on Thursday after Very Dark Man failed to appear in court despite being summoned on March 5 to answer to the charges leveled against him.
In his ruling, Magistrate Iyana directed the Nigeria Police Force and other law enforcement agencies to apprehend the social media personality and bring him before the court for trial.

Despite a strong plea from his counsel, Deji Adeyanju, to vacate the warrant, the magistrate refused to overturn the order, emphasizing the necessity of his appearance before the court.
Reacting to the legal proceedings, Very Dark Man took to his Instagram page to condemn the court’s decision, describing it as a deliberate attempt to suppress his advocacy.
He insisted that his arrest would not deter him from speaking out, claiming that Mercy Chinwo was leveraging her influence to manipulate law enforcement against him.
“I will not be silenced,” he declared in his video, asserting that the legal actions against him were politically and socially motivated.
As the case unfolds, legal observers are watching closely to see how the situation develops, particularly in light of growing debates surrounding freedom of speech, online activism, and celebrity influence in legal matters.
