Victor Osimhen arrives in Istanbul ahead of Galatasaray loan move
Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen touched down in Istanbul early Tuesday to a rapturous welcome from thousands of Galatasaray fans, as the 25-year-old striker prepares to finalize a season-long loan move from Napoli to the Turkish giants.
Osimhen, who has been at the center of a protracted transfer saga throughout the summer, expressed his excitement and commitment to his new club upon his arrival in Turkey’s capital.
The Super Eagles forward was visibly moved by the enthusiastic reception at the airport, where fans chanted his name and drummed in celebration of his impending arrival at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium.
Speaking to the gathered supporters, Osimhen said, “This is one of the best sets of fans in the world. It feels good to be here, and I am absolutely excited. Of course, I cannot wait to see them in the stadium, and I hear how they scream when I score. I am ready to give my best for them.”
The loan deal, which is expected to be officially announced following Osimhen’s medical examination, will see Galatasaray pay the full salary of the striker for the duration of his stay. However, there is no obligation for the Turkish club to purchase him permanently at the end of the season.
Before agreeing to the move, Osimhen successfully negotiated a reduction in his release clause with Napoli, from €130 million to €75 million, making it easier for other clubs to pursue him in future transfer windows.
This adjustment is seen as a strategic move that could benefit both the player and potential suitors in the coming years.

Osimhen’s arrival in Istanbul marks the conclusion of a tumultuous summer transfer window, during which he was linked to several top clubs, including Chelsea and Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli. However, those deals ultimately fell through, leading to his temporary move to Galatasaray.
The striker’s loan transfer also ends his tenure at Napoli, where he was controversially left out of the squad amid the transfer uncertainty.
Despite the challenges, Osimhen is eager to start a new chapter in his career with Galatasaray, one of Turkey’s most storied football clubs.
The official announcement of the loan is expected to be made in the coming hours, following the completion of Osimhen’s medical checks.
Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as the prolific forward integrates into Galatasaray’s squad, with high expectations for his impact in the Turkish Super Lig.
