Victor Osimhen edges closer to Manchester United over amid Napoli exit talks
The future of Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen is set to take a dramatic turn this summer, as reports suggest that the prolific striker has reached a preliminary agreement with Manchester United ahead of a potential high-profile transfer.
Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, has enjoyed a sensational season, scoring 29 goals across competitions and reaffirming his reputation as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards.
Although Turkish giants Galatasaray were eager to make his stay permanent, financial realities made a full transfer virtually impossible.
According to AfricaFoot, a close confidant of the 26-year-old forward has confirmed that an agreement has been reached between Osimhen and Manchester United.
The Red Devils, long in search of a world-class striker, are believed to be leading the race for his signature, edging out competition from Chelsea, who have also shown strong interest.
The next major hurdle for United is negotiating terms with Napoli, Osimhen’s parent club.
Although Napoli no longer view Osimhen as central to their long-term plans, they are determined to cash in on the Nigerian international and could demand a hefty transfer fee.
The club had tried and failed to offload him last summer, but with manager Antonio Conte pushing for a swift resolution this time around, a deal looks increasingly likely.
Turkish journalist Serdar Ali Celikler has added fuel to the growing speculation, reporting via a NEO Sport broadcast that Osimhen has a €75 million release clause for clubs outside Italy, and that Manchester United have already stepped up their efforts to secure the deal. While United have yet to submit a formal offer, insiders suggest they are preparing a package to meet Napoli’s asking price.

However, to comply with Premier League financial fair play regulations, United may be forced to sell a high-value player to balance their books before completing the Osimhen deal.
For Manchester United, securing Osimhen would represent a major coup as they aim to revitalize their attack and reestablish themselves among England’s elite.
United have struggled for consistent goal scoring this season, with current forwards Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund unable to consistently deliver at the top level.
Osimhen’s proven pedigree — including his pivotal role in Napoli’s 2022/23 Serie A title win — positions him as a transformative signing for the Old Trafford outfit.
The Nigerian star, keen to return to playing at the highest level after a stint in Turkish football, sees a move to Manchester United as a major step up.
His arrival could be the catalyst United need to reignite their title ambitions and restore their status in the Champions League.
While the deal is not yet finalized, all signs point to an imminent transfer, with only formal negotiations between Manchester United and Napoli standing in the way.
Osimhen, valued at around €68.9 million, could soon be leading the line in the famous red of United as they plot their resurgence.
