We wont be slow in our ambitions for this new season – Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu
Deputy Governor of Edo State, expressing how he feels about Bendel Insurance promotion to the NPFL, he said.
“We are excited and happy that after eleven years Bendel Insurance is back to premiership where they belong, but as a Government we are excited that the reform that is on going is yielding dividends”.
During our electionery campaign the governor did promise that we are going to bring back the lost glory and make Edo state number in terms of Sports reforms, as it use to be during the days Samuel Egbemodia reforms and rehabilitation of facility .
For Bendel Insurance particularly we rebranded the team last year for the purpose of getting it back to premiership where it belongs and within one year thankfully it is working, and Insurance today filled up the qualification to premiership.
Regarding placing a target for insurance, “i will say it’s not to early because it’s two ways, yes it’s not to early to place target based on the reform policies we have set on ground for awhile, making the team attain a good professional standard”.
“In the other hand we wont be slow in our ambitions for this new season but other seasons ahead we are certainly aiming at bringing continental champions back to Benin”.
That’s why we are reconstructing and renovating Samuel Igbomodia stadium, making it a world class stadium with modern facilities.
“We have great plans such as Insurance fans can start buying their season tickets like other clubs at the commencement of the league”.
“The Super 8 has given us the opportunity to sharpen our boys, it has put the boys in a competitive mood, We have a formidable team presently but as time goes on we will get more players” the deputy governor concluded.
