Woman nabbed for smuggling AK-47 rifle, magazines along Abuja-Kaduna Highway
A 30-year-old woman, Hauwa Yusuf, was arrested by the Special Tactical Squad (STS) for concealing an AK-47 rifle and four magazines in a sack of garri.
The arrest occurred during a stop-and-search operation on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
Police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi revealed that Yusuf confessed to being sent by Aminu Basullube, a notorious bandit in Katsina State, to collect the arms from the Danum Madam Camp area.

Adejobi said that on August 14, 2024, acting on intelligence, operatives of STS intercepted one Hauwa Yusuf ‘F’ 30 years of Dutsin-Ma LGA of Katsina State, adding that the suspect was arrested while in transit from Lafia, Nasarawa State to Katsina State, inside a Sienna bus along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
He revealed that a search was conducted and one AK-47 rifle without breach Number and four AK magazines concealed inside a white sack of Garri were recovered from the suspect.
According to him, during interrogation, the suspect confessed that one Aminu Basullube, a notorious bandit terrorizing Katsina State general axis, sent her to take delivery of the arms in Danum Madam Camp, Katsina State.
The suspect was intercepted while traveling from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Katsina State.
