Nigeria’s youngest head of state, General Yakubu Gowon is alive, and that is authoritative.
The Gowon reported to have died in a social media report is a university professor whose middle name is the same as the Wusasa-born former military helmsman who led Nigeria through a bitter civil war till the early 70s.
The misleading headline sent shock waves across the country until an impeccable source confirmed that General Gowon in his late 80s is in perfect health and does not seem in a hurry to depart this planet now.
