Edumarshals battles 8-month unpaid salary, seek Okowa’s intervention
By Nosa Eresoyen, Asaba
Staffers of the Delta State EDUMARSHAL have continued serious battle with the State Government over their 8-month unpaid salary.
The staff, while speaking to journalists through Mike Ogowe in Asaba, however appealed to the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene.
EDUMARSHAL was established by the state former governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan in 2012 to ensure school children are faced with difficulties of crossing busy roads during rush hours to school as well as arrest school pupils who are supposed to be in school and are not, rather are subjected to selling pure water and others on the streets.
Investigations reveal that EDUMARSHAL staffers currently live in the fear of unknown, especially in the Okowa led administration which may have deliberately kept a sealed lips on whether they should continue to exist or not.

The government has also refused to address the issue of none payment of their 8-month unpaid salary.
Mr. Ogowe said: “We have written to Governor to look into our issues especially the 8-month unpaid salary, nothing yet has come out” disclosing that they have resorted to doing odd jobs to make ends meet.
But unconfirmed sources close to Governor Okowa said that the Governor since the assumption of office had refused to make official comments on the EDUMARSHAL, especially with the critical financial problem the state is presently facing.
