Tinubu receives short-term appointment
The wife of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Oluremi Tinubu was appointed by the Senate president Bukola Saraki as an acting chief whip of the Senate.
The Cable reports that Tinubu acted as chief whip of the senate in the absence of both Olusola Adeyeye, substantive chief whip of the upper legislative chamber, and his deputy, on May 5th, Thursday.
Meanwhile, Tinubu’s wife served in that capacity for only 25 minutes because the Senate postponed its sitting to May 12, briefly after it sat. The suspension was due to the congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which some of its members were attending. It has been the shortest time of the plenary of the eighth Senate since its inauguration on June 9, 2015. In the same vein, Tinubu has become the only acting chief whip to hold the position for only 25 minutes.

In a statement made available to reporters the PDP said its local government congress will hold on May 6 while its state congress will hold on Tuesday, May 10, this is coming after the ward congress which took place over the weekend.
Senator Adeyeye re-contested in the 2015 elections for a seat in Osun central senatorial district under the platform of the All Progressive Congress(APC) and won. He was later nominated as the Chief Whip of the House.
