2019: Buhari appoints new Police IG
The former assistant Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Mohammed Adamu, has taken over as the new police boss after a crucial meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa on Tuesday, January 15.
NationalDaily, in series of reports, has earlier published several stories as it concerns the Police reforms and issues affecting the force. Recently Adamu was sighted heading to the office of the chief of staff to the president, Abba Kyari, on Tuesday morning, prompting reports that he would take over from Ibrahim Idris.
But in a series of photo tweets by Bashir Ahmed, the personal assistant to the president on new media, the former IGP, Ibrahim Idris, was reported to have taken his successor, Adamu, to President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House.
Basking in the joy of the new position, Adamu, who hails from Nasarawa state, appreciated President Buhari for the honour and trust in him.
He promised to drive more professionalism and commitment to service towards the force through his new position, adding that he would discharge his duties for the interest of Nigerians.
