2023 Presidency: Buhari accepts APC consensus candidate; Tinubu, Osinbajo meet to decide who steps down
President Muhammadu Buhari might have sensed the building friction between his associate Bola Tinubu and the sidekick V.P Yemi Osinbajo as far as succession goes.
So he’s willing to let the two slug it out. Not as in a competition they are both red in tooth and claw.
According to an exclusive report by the Punch, there’s a likelihood Buhari has permitted the party’s national leadership to have a consensus candidate for the primary.
The APC is now reaching out to those veiling their ambition for the presidency while their footmen run rampage.
Neither Tinubu nor Osinabjo has declared their intention. But the two are going to meet, according to the report, as part of the arrangement for a consensus.
“Both Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will soon meet to discuss issues relating to the 2023 election,” the newspaper quoted a source as saying.
It’s dicey to know who, between the godfather and his godson, who is going to step down.
Osinbajo has been celebrated as a loyal politician, especially, as a vice president.
But his loyalty, barring ambition, should be unwavering to the man who kicked him upstairs to Aso Rock.
