3 key decisions APC governors made after meeting with President Buhari
Amid the controversy surrounding the approved date of the national convention of the ruling party – the APC, the party has finally reached an agreement on 3 key issues currently bedevilling the party.
Recall the party had earlier fixed its national convention for this Saturday, the 26th of February 2022.
In a rather surprising update issued recently, the party had announced the cancellation of the proposed convention and instead, had announced a zonal congress instead.
The update had raised a lot of dust and this had led the governors to demand a meeting with the President.
After the meeting today, the progressive governors’ forum led by their chairman, Kebbi State’s Gov. Abubakar Bagudu, confirmed that the meeting was fruitful as the party leaders had taken a decisive position about the parties further.
The party had taken 3 key decisions which include:
1, The party’s convention was ratified and the new date was set for the 26th of march 2022
2, According to the Daily Trust, the party also decided on the zoning of the elected offices within the party. The party agreed that the current vacant positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) will be swapped between the Northern and Southern parts of the country. This means the offices that were previously held by northerners will now be held by southerners and vice versa.
3, The sale of forms to aspirants for elective offices will begin on Wednesday, March 9 and end on Friday, March 11.
