50 Cent faces charges for throwing mic at fan
By Orukpe Rebecca.
Famous American rapper 50 Cent has been accused of criminal felony battery after his microphone hit a fan during his performance at the Crypto.com arena in LA. The rap star had reportedly hurled multiple microphones at the production crew backstage in frustration as they were faulty, and one of them incautiously struck the victim, injuring her and leaving her with a cut that required stitches. He is considered a suspect in the case.
The incident has sparked controversy, with fans expressing outrage and empathy for the victim. In the video captured during the performance of his “Final Lap” tour, 50 Cent could be seen walking onto the stage to join rapper YG before throwing the microphone. The victim, identified as Bryhana Monegain, suffered a sinister gash on her forehead, a wound that bled profusely.
The victim received immediate medical attention from the paramedics who were on standby after the incident, and she was later treated for her injury. 50 Cent, who has not yet commented on the incident, is famous for his hit singles such as “Candy Shop,” “In da Club,” and “21 Questions.”
Cardi B, another prominent rapper, had also found herself in a similar situation earlier in August when she threw her microphone at a fan for splashing water on her. Fortunately, the microphone bounced and hit a different person rather than the intended target, and she didn’t face legal consequences.
Such incidents highlight the often-dangerous side of performances, leaving fans wondering how far their beloved artists will go to express themselves when adrenaline takes over and they become frustrated with the situation. The injured Bryhana Monegain might be among the group of individuals scarred physically and emotionally by these outbursts, calling on artists like 50 Cent to take more responsibility for their actions while performing.
