APC sinking Sen. Dino Melaye deeper: Appeal Court upholds tribunal’s nullification of election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is gradually deepening the political onslaught against Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, in the National Assembly. The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Friday upheld the judgement of the Kogi State National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which nullified the election of Melaye and ordered fresh election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Appeal Court, nullifying the election of Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), maintained that the INEC should conduct fresh election into the Kogi West senatorial district within 90 days from this Friday.
The Chairman of the Kogi State National and State Assembly Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja, Justice A.O Chijoke, had in delivering the judgement that nullified the election of Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, ordered that INEC should conduct a fresh election for the district within 90 days.
Smart Adeyemi, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 26 election had filed the petition challenging the election of Senator Melaye.
