COVID-19: 5,000 beneficiaries in Kwali, FCT receive N20,000

The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq distributed money to vulnerable Nigerians on Wednesday morning in kwali Area council. This was to cushion the effects consequent to the total lockdown imposed by President Muhammadu Buhari on the Federal Capital Territory FCT, lagos state and Ogun state in order to stem the spread of the Covid-19. A total of 190 people received cash token of N 20, 000 each in kwali Area council.
According to the minister, over 1 million people across the country have been enlisted to benefit from the scheme with over 5,000 people to benefit from the scheme in kwali councils alone.While responding to questions on the mode of selection of the beneficiaries, the minister stated: “it is a very long process, many people are involved, community leaders, religious leadership the Council Chairmen and his Council Members. They all come together and identity the poorest of the poor and vulnerable households in that particular community”
